Rediscovering Nostalgia: A Journey Back to the Sharp PC-7000

Recently, while organizing my shed, I stumbled upon a piece of technology that brought back a flood of memories: my father’s portable computer, the Sharp PC-7000.

This iconic device, which I had nearly forgotten, was a marvel for its time. I took a quick snapshot of it resting on my lap, though I must admit, it has seen better days—spiders have made it their home in the shed. However, to my surprise, the computer powered up without a hitch as soon as it was plugged in.

What’s even more remarkable is that we still have floppy disks compatible with it! It’s amazing to think how this once state-of-the-art machine accompanied my dad to his classes, revolutionizing the way he interacted with the world of learning.

As I reflect on this discovery, I can’t help but appreciate how technology has evolved while also recognizing the memories and stories embedded in these older gadgets. The Sharp PC-7000 may be a relic now, but for me, it symbolizes a connection to the past and the ingenuity of its time.
