Building a new PC can be an exciting venture, filled with anticipation for enhanced gaming experiences and improved performance. However, sometimes reality can throw a wrench in our plans, as I recently discovered.

After investing all my savings into constructing a replacement for my old gaming rig, which had unfortunately been damaged by family circumstances, I was eager to power it up for the first time. Unfortunately, that moment quickly turned into disappointment when I realized that the monitor, crucial for the setup, had also been affected.

To add to the frustration, I had managed to snag a deal on the monitor—saving approximately $50—which made the loss all the more disheartening. Now, with a bare minimum budget and no means to purchase even a basic replacement, I find myself staring at my new PC, unable to experience the gaming joy I had so eagerly anticipated.

As I face the possibility of being without a gaming setup for an extended period, I am reminded how important it is to safeguard our equipment and, importantly, our financial resources. This experience has been a tough lesson in resilience and preparedness, and I hope that by sharing my story, others can learn from my misfortune. So, if you’re on the cusp of building your own PC, remember to take extra care of your components and invest a little in insurance—just in case.
